Sewn Product Design & Manufacturing Program

Hybrid Training Program | September 19-23, 2022

Build skills to start a business in the sewn products industry with this 5-part training. Between creating personal protective equipment, custom fashion designs, or industrial sewn products, there are many business opportunities in the sewn products industry. This week-long course will provide practical guidance on various market segments, opportunities, and technical training in the sewn products industry.

  • Basic sewing & cutting skills
  • Drafting a simple pattern & reading measurements
  • Applying basic closure techniques
  • Introduction to the sewn products industry including contracting, subcontracting, mass production processes, sourcing, and more. 

To complete this training program, attendees will receive further hands-on technical training on industry equipment. The program is taught by Constance Agee, owner of Agee Fashion Institute. 

Please note: $150 materials fee for the lab trainings will be required. Registration is considered incomplete until payment is provided.

Detailed Description

As a student you will be introduced to various sewn products and their associated segments in the sewn products industry, and will explore how technology and sewn products interact.

You will be introduced to the processes of determining project cost, staffing, and controlling a project. You will create a merchandise plan for a sewn product as a hands-on practicum.

During the in-person lab portion, you will create a project and use basic project management skills to experience critical thinking, importance of communication, working in teams, timing and logistics, implementing budget constraints, set quotas, and determine payroll estimates for project execution. A vetting process for approval to move forward on a project based on scenario are explored to reinforce learned concepts.
